ABOUT SINCOM12
The International Workshop on Socially Intelligent Computing (SINCOM) provides a forum on the study, design, development and evaluation of the emergent intelligence that human-computer systems demonstrate. Socially intelligent computational systems bring together people and computers, support the creation of radically new forms of collaboration, communication and intelligence and allow the generation of new, emergent behaviors. Socially Intelligent Computing research is closely related to two other areas of research: “social computing”, i.e. the design and use of information and communication technologies that consider social context; and to the field of “collective intelligence”, i.e. systems that facilitate the collective behavior of groups of individual actors – people, computational agents, and organizations – and exhibit intelligent characteristics such as perception, learning, judgment, or problem solving.
The International Workshop on Socially Intelligent Computing (SINCOM) addresses all technological aspects of socially intelligent computing, that span a variety of issues from advanced collaborative systems to using semantic technologies and the web of linked open data to support sociality in computational systems. The workshop aims to attract research that addresses either intra- and cross-enterprise settings or uses intelligent computing infrastructures that exploit social media on the web. There is no restriction in the application focus of work to be submitted: papers from different domains ranging from e.g. corporate idea management to citizen engagement are welcome.
The objective of the 1st International Workshop on Socially Intelligent Computing is to bring together researchers, developers and practitioners to discuss research issues and experiences in the study, development and deployment of Socially Intelligent Computing concepts, applications, and systems. The workshop will provide an international forum for the presentation of both theoretical and practical results aiming at the identification of items for a research agenda.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers submitted to SINCOM12 must not have been accepted for publication elsewhere or be under review for another workshop or conference. All submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression. All papers will be refereed by at least three members of the program committee. All submissions must be in English.
Papers should not exceed 10 pages in the final camera-ready format. Submissions must be laid out according to the final camera-ready formatting instructions and must be submitted in PDF format.
The final proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag as LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science). Additionally, extended versions of the best papers from the Workshop may be considered for a submission in a special issue of an International Journal indexed by ISI Thomson Reuter.
Author instructions can be found at:
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html
Failure to comply with the formatting instructions for submitted papers will lead to the outright rejection of the paper without review. Failure to commit to presentation at the conference automatically excludes a paper from the proceedings.
The paper submission site will be announced shortly.

CFP: ACM CSCW 2012
The ACM Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Social Media is a premier venue for presenting research in the design and use of technologies that affect groups, organizations, and communities. CSCW encompasses both the technical and social challenges encountered when supporting collaboration. The development and application of new technologies continues to enable new ways of working together and coordinating activities. Although work is an area of focus, CSCW embraces research and technologies supporting a wide range of recreational and social activities using a diverse range of devices. The conference brings together top researchers and practitioners from academia and industry who are interested in both technical and social aspects of collaboration.
CSCW 2012 will be held February 11-15, 2012, in Seattle, Washington, USA. The deadline for Papers & Notes submission is June 3; titles and abstracts of Papers & Notes must be submitted by May 27.
The early submission date of June 3 reflects a new review process, wherein authors of promising submissions will be given a month to revise their 10-page Papers and/or 4-page Notes to address concerns raised by reviewers and increase their potential for achieving the level of clear contribution required for a CSCW Paper or Note. We have instituted this process to promote greater diversity while maintaining the high level of quality expected of CSCW Papers and Notes. Only complete submissions will be reviewed, and not all submissions will be eligible for revision, but we hope that the opportunity for revision in some cases may help prospective authors from outside the traditional CSCW community to structure the presentation of their work in a format that is better aligned with CSCW standards.
The complete Call for Participation, including information about Workshops, CSCW Horizon, Demonstrations, Panels, Posters, Videos, the Doctoral Colloquium, and Student Volunteers – as well as Papers and Notes – can be found at cscw2012.org. You can also follow announcements about the conference on Twitter, @ACM_CSCW2012.
We look forward to your participation!
